Giant Waste of Time, originally Monster Scaling

Pretty simple here... Let's say for example, frost wolves...

They would only be able to scale from levels 15-25. They'll scale as normal until you pass 25. Then they can't scale up any more and hit their ceiling. Same as if you're below 15 they would hit the floor and wouldn't scale lower.

Basically I think every monster should have a floor and ceiling when scaled. That way they still scale but you're still able to feel that sense of accomplishment by fighting monsters that are lower leveled than you.

Everyone has complained about scaling and I am sure you don't plan to remove it but this would definitely help everyone out.

Plus with this, at some point just about anyone would be able to solo, and even though this is a party game, we have to face the fact that your buddies or an available party will not always be on. I agree with this suggestion, though I doubt it will be implemented as it requires manually changing every mob, doesn't it?

I think this should be added in with Terulia while all the monsters are being redone anyways. I totally agree with this idea though (since I complain about it all the time). It's nice that everywhere you go the experience is great but then again that's sort of a problem if you think about it. What would be a good idea would be to leave end-game training areas, like the Ruins' lower floors' monsters have no level limit in scaling so that even high levels have a tough place to train, but other previous areas start to not be as threatening.

I mean geez sometimes I cry a little bit before pushing myself to go through the Troll and Icicle floor in Ice Caves.

Yeah I sort of figured this would be a Terulia thing but seeing as I don't have monster names for Terulia I just use frost wolves as an example. :)

Great suggestion. "Hey, I'm level 35 now. Vorg and Lower Irendi shouldnt be so difficult anymore... not... the monsters are still just as strong as me."

@Sinsie

In Terulia monsters are there primarily to inconvenience you from my understanding. Your main source of experience will be PVP.

PVP - No experience loss. You only drop gold and items, including engraved items at a lowered drop rate.

including engraved items at a lowered drop rate.

That drop rate better be at Castlevania levels.

I like this whole 'cap per monster' idea and I'm pretty sure i pitched it to gaku before and he didn't like it.

the point of scaling is so that theres no 'best place' to train, although there basically always will be, the scaling now makes the difference between areas/monsters not as huge.

Gaku wants the monsters to be hard. you're not supposed to be able to solo everywhere (or atleast thats what he told me).

Wait wait wait. This is the first time I've even heard of something like this. And if most of the experience is intended to be received from PvPing, that means that those that heal will be getting less experience and will take more time to grow...

This is a great idea. No sarcasm or anything either. I'd love for healers to have to take longer unless they go out of their way to actually start earning their experience like everyone else. Stop making them so glamorous.

Also my bias of disliking any other healers around. That's just how I am.

Plus healers don't necessarily have to be dedicated healers. They can pick up another tree that will help them deal damage.

Sadistically low. It's not that smart an idea actually, people will just go to the store and fill their inventories up with RNG fodder.

Though, I'm sure you've thought of that and fine-tuned the mechanics.

Won't making exp from PvP large greatly welcome griefers?

I mean, even if you don't lose exp on death, it will still suck dying every time you leave town... xD

I don't want to drop the gear I spent more than the cost of the item itself to engrave.

Who said costs are going to be the same as they are now? Huh?
Plus you could always kill someone to get your things back.

That contradicts what Garral said though, when he said people will be punished more heavily for PKing and whatnot.. is there some mixed signals here or is Garral just stupid.

I fail to see how any sort of drop rate for engraved items is a good idea. Have you ever seen something like that in any other successful pvp-based MMORPG? I'm honestly curious, because it sounds like a terrible idea to me.

Why is engrave not being 100% now? Because some people hate how players who know how to conduct business or play long enough or smart enough can get items? There's no problem with engraving right now, why would that be changed?

I don't know about anyone else, but I'd rather pay a high fee for 100% guarantee rather than just a good chance it won't drop.

It's like trying to set up the game for mass griefing.

AFAIK, you won't be gaining stats when you level aside from HP and MP.

This means all your "stats" are going to come from weapons/armor and possibly which two skill trees you choose (not my area of expertise so I'm not sure.)

This means that everyone is going to be similar in power and how good you are is going to depend on what gear you happen to have on, how you play and who you are with.

I also don't see this catering to "griefers" since you are going to be a citizen of an NPC kingdom. People are going to want to PVP so they can train so hopefully they'll be wanting to team up with others in their kingdom to ensure victory against opposing kingdoms. The monsters can now be your source of grief and PVP your main source of experience.

I'm pretty sure all that shooting fish in a barrel shit from FFO in regards to PVP is bye byes. Good riddance says I.

If you don't want to drop your gear, don't die.
I think it's an awesome idea. You kill a bunch of citizens from an opposing kingdom in an awesome battle. You get experience. They lose none. You have a chance at getting some of their items and gold.

ALSO, in a game where your weapons and armor are going to play a big role in your stats, you shouldn't have a 100% chance of losing them, especially since you DON'T LOSE EXP FROM PVP.
