With admins all serving the same purposes, upholding rules, setting a good example for the rest of the community and such, what of the admin/gm powers?

The past four or so admin/gm appointed players we've had have all consecutively shown that they can't be trusted to handle gm conceal, as it is now, responsibly.

I think the conceal ability should have the ability to walk over dense tiles removed.

Even better, since it seems that a lot of things are being logged now, whenever conceal, warp-to or summon are used, an explanation of what said ability was used for is notated and logged with appropriate time-stamps.

This is the protect the players as well as the admins.
This provides supportive evidence when a player accuses an admin of misuse of their abilities.

If Gaku feels adding a logging feature for this to be too much extra work/a pain in the ass, just remove the ability to walk over dense tiles.

Furthermore, we don't need a lead admin if we're going to have a team. That defeats the purpose. Gaku is in charge of Locke, we don't need Locke in charge of more people.

All the admins serve FFO under Gaku.

Generally the idea under the new system is that I'd do a lot less actual moderation and focus more on managing the admin team. That's the original purpose of my position. I'm here to take the stress off Gaku's back. He and I are in very close communication, though.

This thread is to debate and discuss that and see about changing it along with admin related abilities.

Reference original post.

Gaku doesn't wanna keep babysitting admins especially during stupid shitstorms like this.

Hierarchy:

Gaku (Godku - rules all)
Locke (Head Admin - Rules over admins, overthrows bad calls or confirms good calls)
Admin 1, Admin 2, Admin 3 (Admins - Investigate reports of rule breaking, bans/boots/mutes misbehaviors keeping in line with what Locke commands)
Community (Players - better not break the rules or face the wrath of the upholders of Godku's law)

I think that's the goal here, and pretty much seems like an ideal setup, keeps Gaku's mind focused on Terulia's advancement.

It would be a good setup if and only if the head admin has good judgment, and that fact has been quite called into question lately. Otherwise it would be the same as it is now, one ultimate adminuu who is free to make shitty calls as they damn well please, with a bunch of placeholders who are in the end powerless to stop them.

Well I'm thinking that since this appears to be one bad judgement call (followed by the one other incident) that really has a few people up in arms, we can all agree Locke is an otherwise reasonable person. So 3 other opinions, that I'm gonna assume Locke will be holding in high esteem due to their position, it will have a decent impact on Lockes decision making:

"Well this guy I trusted with a lot of responsibility thinks that this needs to be stopped. I don't really know what's going on, I'll take his word for it."

See what I mean?

If your not buying that think of it this way, Locke will be basically taking his hand out of direct moderation of the game, for the most part, and will only be overruling the admin team if they like...REALLY fucked something up. Thereby taking some stress off of himself and being the last line of defense against Gaku's headaches.

The way I'm understanding it that is.

Admin 1, Admin 2, Admin 3 (Admins - Investigate reports of rule breaking, bans/boots/mutes misbehaviors keeping in line with what Locke commands)
Community (Players - better not break the rules or face the wrath of the upholders of Godku's law)

How is this any different from:

Gaku (Godku - rules all)
Locke (Head Admin - Rules over admins, overthrows bad calls or confirms good calls)
Normal players (Players - Investigate reports of rule breaking, bans/boots/mutes misbehaviors keeping in line with what Locke commands)
Community (Players - better not break the rules or face the wrath of the upholders of Godku's law)

Besides them being able to ban/boot/mute.
I think if the admin team has a majority vote, they should be able to overthrow the head admin's decision.

I know, I know, not a democracy, but if the final decision still rests with Locke, what's the point in appointing more admins at all?

I think a more appropriate hierarchy would go:

Gaku
Locke > Adjunct Admin Team(That's greater than/equal to, just so you know. His vote could count as 3, allowing him to pass things through but allowing the Adjuncts to halt a decision if they all agree)
Normal Players

... Dean. This has got to be the stupidest thing I've ever seen on this forum. Balancing admin powers? This has got to be the first time in the history of the internet that an admin power was up for nerfing.

Yeah, because what we have going on now totally works.

If you're talking about GM, it actually does, you just don't trust me.

As for the admin hierarchy, Deshawn pretty much hit the nail on the head.

Yeah, I don't trust you. Not just because of recent events either. As a few others have attested in other threads, this isn't the first time you've done this, this is just the first time you've been called out publicly on it.

Alright, if you're going to believe people like Baram over me, I guess there's nothing I can do to change your mind.

As hard as it is for you to accept, you're not always right and the rest of the community is not always wrong.

I agree that it's not the admin powers that are the problem. If you can't get someone that can't be trusted with admin powers(Garral, Kaji, etc) then they shouldn't be an admin. Strip them of their powers and move on until you find someone capable of being trusted with them, if that's what it takes.

Having a thing like GM Conceal would be a powerful tool for a trustworthy admin to utilize.

It's also a huge pain in the ass when it comes down to confronting an admin about abuse of abilities. You're not likely to have photographic or video evidence of said abuse, and from what I've seen in the past, when it comes down to a contest of words, the admins word is golden over that of players.

It's easy for an admin to say, oh I never did that, or I only did it once. More so when there is no evidence against them, as I just stated.

I mean fuck, even with guides before, every single guide name-raped people. Renamers and such key-raped people.

We were constantly having to bitch at them about it.

You're putting too much faith in people to not abuse shit when it's easier to take big red button that says "Do not push unless an emergency" out of their grasp.
