*snickers* That's probably what everyone thinks. The difference is mentality: Predator vs. Prey.

When someone attacks me, I try to figure out how I can kill this person. Most everyone else most likely thinks how they can escape.

Wrong.

The other day in the ice cave in the first battle, when we tried jumping Solus and co., we got completely annihilated. Granted there were many factors such as major lag and complete recklessness, they had a lot less high level people and took us out without any effort thanks to an amazing strategy.

PvP is not always about levels.

Levels still play a major role.

Example being having bw's like desh and dar and knights like seisul, batt ossi etc who are capped with high profs and can one shot half the members of another party since the other party is low-mid twenties for the most part.

This is even more so prevalent in areas where there's no bottle necking and everyone is in constant view of each other.

I mean, Seisul and Batt can pretty much run around guards with minimal worry. Compared to our low to mid twenty bw's, desh, dar and any other decent capped bw does twice as much damage per spell.

Anyway, the point is levels and profs DO matter.
Every aspect matters. Levels, profs, party size, tactics, terrain.

It's true, they do. If they didn't matter people wouldn't train. The point I'm making is that I've seen entire parties fail to kill someones alt who was of equal level. And by entire parties I mean 3 or more people.

I've literally watched Vincent, back when he was level 23, cower an entire 5 man party. Not one member was uncc'd either.

I was remarking on someone saying to me that players can fight back.

When you live through one of Darlute or Vincent's 'Drive byes' at that level, then you can say such.

This is why a level cap of 25 is NOT a bad idea.

Anyone remember that group of guys...using BM's in nb that killed a few level 40 players?

Each of whom was one shottable by any level 40 player, took maybe 3 hits from a capped ninja's swift strike.

Newbie Protection

Dumb level 40 Players

I'm sure Dean could explain better, since that was his project and all.

No..they were attacking the level 40 players. Newbie Protection didn't apply.

Granted, they were doing it to prove confuse was op'd, but that wasn't their only trick.

But my point is even newbies can take out a capped player, so I don't wanna hear that whining about "wahh capped bw's can one shot anyone not capped" shit. Just weak excuses.

What is the right way to handle your gear upgrades and proffing? I think that would help us newbies quite a lot. There are too many unknowns in this game that make it hostile to new players.

^^^ He makes a good point. There is alot that takes alot to learn. But thats what gives addvantage to people who play alot. Anyways

I do belive level has alot to do with it, but skill IMO is basically the major player. If you are alot better then someone no matter if theres a 15 level diff or 5 the better player will win (in a situation that environment and outside sources ie: lag dont play a part).

Bull shit. A level 20 Knight with gear APPROPRIATE TO HIS LEVEL does not beat a 35 BW. It'd take, at most, two spells to kill them.

And Deshawn, I love how you say that just because you can fight back if you jump them three on one means you aren't defenseless. If you or Vinny or Darlute are sitting in town, you can fry a newbie (I mean Un-CC'd player) with one spell, simple as can be. How, exactly, are they supposed to 'fight back' from that?

I'm not saying there is anything WRONG with that, I'm saying don't get this high and mighty attitude of everyone should be able to kill a capped BW if they know what they are doing. It's unrealistic and an unfair assumption.

The only classes that can hold their own fighting people high above them are mages, because they can use status spells to even the playing field. They aren't the 'I win' button they used to be, but they are one hell of a weapon at their disposal. If your a Knight fighting someone 15 levels higher then you, you are going to lose unless they are freaking retarded.

A Capped knight can almost one hit a capped bw. Resulting from the damage, two things are gonna happen. Either the BW is gonna run and use a pot, or he's gonna status spell you. Based on the situation, he/she may be in panic so they'll most likely pot. I've been in that situation many times; so i would have an idea of what would happen

I never said the classes were not balanced against each other, because they are in fact. I said it is unrealistice to expect weakling players to be able to fight capped characters and to call them 'unskilled' when they fail.

A lot of the issues in FFO have been addressed and fixed in Terulia, but sadly I doubt they'll get fixed in FFO.

@Locke: That is why I've always pushed for a lower cap and stuck with my opinion that it should be lowered regardless of lots of people being against it.

I always thought a level 20 cap would be fun, but I never said anything because people would go batshit insane at the mere mention of the idea.

Well since it seems most of this issue is fixed in Terulia, I think as far as FFO goes we're just going to have to accept that if you want to win in pvp you either have to be really good, a way higher level, or get a lot of people to help you.
