How many people on average play these days? I don't even know I don't go on anymore

I don't see how the amount of people currently playing has any affect on the purpose of certain mechanics. If it did, then would we not be attempting to change multiple mechanics to be more beneficial to the fact that only about three people actually play the game?

Point in summary, eating food shouldn't automatically fill your thirst bar like you assumed I was stating, but it should HELP. Just a little gradual increase would be sufficient.

My point is that the rate of recovery for thirst is fine as is and there should be no readily-available resource that would assist it.

Even as you say, you only have problems during "super large mobs". Sounds like it's working as intended.

I don't hate change. I hate people trying to change things for complete and total convenience, not for the betterment of the game. There are plenty of benefits and some balance around the thirst mechanics as-is.

This is a subforum for suggestions, not huge mind numbingly exotic suggestions that's going to bring this game out of the graveyard. I came back after a year or so of not playing and as a low level character I thought to myself, you know, if food made you thirsty that would be a small easy way to make gameplaying for the causul player even more fun. So i posted my suggestion. For what? It's a sensible easy solution to a minor issue that i noticed and I"m not gonna waste anymore of my time explaining it to you. You don't like it. I do like it, it makes sense, but I forgot, this is FFO.

People kept hassling Gaku to bring up an old version that featured experience points, due to a lot of vocal whiners despising the Allowance system, so a vote was held.

By a slim margin, caused by an outspring of old players due to misinformation saying they would be playing 3.5 again, folks voted to bring back an old version, which came with the caveat that no updates will be done for it. When it was clear the hosting would not be 3.5 version, they all left.

What this means is that any and all suggestions for this version will be ignored, until the actual version is restored, either by this version dying a complete death of players or people voting to bring back the newest version of FFO, with the allowance system and all that.

p.s, if this version, with about 5-8 active players, is not considered "dead" then what would need to occur? I just want to play and pvp and stuff. People are too serious....also, not sure if I should even get into this, but since Gaku sold his host files to whoever, couldn't he just bring back whatever his new version is and let the people who want to play new ffo play it, and those who like the old **** play the other one he sold? Hell he could sell 3.5 if that is what is needed for progress, instead of this stalemate that blows balls. Obviously you're not gaku, but i'm just expressing my thoughts

I don't pay any attention to the game server, as that's not my department, but I would assume the best way to go is to PM Gaku asking if it would be possible to hold a vote on whether to leave PerfectFFO behind or to stay with it.

If such a vote request is accepted, I will run the voting as I did the prior one.

But really, I have offered reasons why it's not beneficial to the game. You're suggesting a readily available resource that would allow, in all basic terms, more pot-chugging. Thirst acts both as a limiter to prevent people from training in areas they aren't prepared for and as a reward system for people who can properly micro-manage. To give a readily available resource that would trivialize thirst would remove these two factors.

So I'm seriously asking here, what of the convenience factor do you think will make it worth removing those two?

Instead, I have been entertaining your idea for the purpose of you trying to refine it into something that might actually be worth a ****, and you're just going around calling me a ****lord or whatever term you want to go with next.

Lets just face it already. This game sucks. It want to cater to casual players but there are just so many things that say otherwise. This game never has and never will cater to casual players. Anything that is convenient is frowned upon. Anything that might make the game easier and more fun to play is frowned upon.

Just give up and go play something else. That's what I do.

Also dont try quests at level 10 i dont solo mauler until my tier 2s are capped at level 15. Basically dont do anything you know your charecter cant handle

i never said taking thirst breaks are hard, and who are you (simpson) to assume what my levels are, what boss i'm on or anything at all. i don't think you guys understand what a casual player even means. I maybe play an hour or 2 at the most a day and it cuts into my already limited playing time to sit and chill for thirst (though now that i have more levels suffixes and **** it's not as much of a problem when I was just starting out, this suggestion is basically for low level players), why? because i work a full time job, have a girlfriend who has 3 kids and i dunno, just in general have a life outside of video games. I like this game so I play it occasionally. Once again all you keep saying is that it ruins what thirst was intended for and thats not even true. how large of an increase to thirst do you think i'm even trying to have done? I don't know all the percentages and **** of things in this game, but having a slight uptick, or even a gradual increase in thirst when you eat food would help and still wouldn't destroy the original purpose of thirst. I'm not saying if your thirst bar is near zero that you eat a tomato and all of a sudden you have a full thirst bar, hell no, but it should go up some, even if gradually. Both parties would win at this point.

you say that as if no one else works and plays ffo. I work in construction i work 60 hours a week i have a girlfriend and i still have time to play ffo i even have alts that i train and have no problem with thirst i guess ill have to quote blax on this one

im not diminishing anyone else who works has a gf and plays ffo. First off good for you for having so many hours in construction, everyone around here in construction is laid off due to winter and its tough, I was merely explaining why I don't play that often anymore. I play casually, and that was the point of my post, not to diminish what other people do. Food makes you thirsty, it just is that way, helps a lot for low level players is my point.

The other reason why it wouldn't be terrible broken is the sheer rarity of food. I mean, ok it's not super rare, but Irendi doesn't even get any. At all.

If you cook a egg at midnight on a new moon. by the fire of a grenade you will get a "Black Egg" this egg will restore your thirst but over time and you have to stand still and not do any action.

This has been in the game for sometime u didn't know about it?

There was an update that allowed food items to be bought at item shops outside of Newbie Island; it's not in the currently hosted version of FFO, but the currently hosted version of FFO would not get this kind of update anyway. So yes, it's a readily accessible resource if we were theoretically in a position to make such an update to the game.
