Having your character deleted would be a big deal to me. I invest a lot of time in my character. They invested a lot of time in theirs too and now it's gone. Pretty sure that's a good deterrent.

You can be upset about something without raging about it.

Character deletion is way worse than being banned kid. p_o

It's possibly THE worst thing you can do to something, since you can always change your IP address to circumvent bans or play on secret alts.

The main thing is, character deletion is far more effective than plain ol' banning, because most people act like rotten children, meaning they'll test the limits of the people in charge and try to get away with as much as they can before getting banned. Deleting their characters creates a huge timesink for them, not to mention is demotivating as all hell.

If they continue repeating the same thing after character deletion, then permaban comes up. If they avoid permaban and are found out, char deletion and another banned slapped on. The amount of time it takes them to get up to that point? A lot. The amount of time it takes an admin to delete and ban characters? A few minutes.

You can relax now, cause no matter how abusive some people might be, they'll never win if they're caught.

I was actually originally going to outright delete their characters on the basis they were acting like dip****s, but then I realized I could prove he was away anyway. That provided me some entertainment. So yes, sometimes I do enjoy arguing with morons.

Gaku, remember, with the way Terulia's natural prof leveling is headed, similar events like this will be much more common.

That's why I'm thankful that Gaku decided to implement it in FFO. Better to find out potential problems now so we don't have to deal with them later.

reply to SyperDT:

There's also a few systems implemented in Terulia already that make it so abusing the natural prof system is not quite as easy.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but you can't just away while you spam one skill and expect to come back in a few hours with 20 profs. In fact, from what I know, I'm sure you could expect to come back dead from that.
