the bad:

1) I will be out for about the next 10 days with very limited internet access.
2) I will be moving into a new apartment in July/August. This means there will be a substantial amount of turmoil in the web/game servers as things get settled, especially if Comcast decides to screw me over with crap hosting once again.

the good:

1) I will have some time to work on TFS updates during the next week-and-a-half. Hopefully user profiles and pages will be complete by the time I get back.

2) As you know, the web server has been moved to a more stable computer (a Dell GX280). I have 3 more of the same, plus 4 of the old server's equivalents, plus a couple extra, that I'm planning to build into a massive home network including a Beowulf cluster. Here's the current plan:

- GX280 firewall/router
--- FFO/Terulia game server (already setup)
--- GX280 TFS/TRC (already setup)
--- GX280 NFS for backups
--- GX280 cluster head
----- CCC cluster slave
----- CCC cluster slave
----- CCC cluster slave
----- CCC cluster slave
----- (up to 3 additional slaves)

the ugly:

I need cash to fund this project - specifically to help pay for electricity, cooling costs, and internet. And no, I'm not asking for donations.

You may be aware that several games are currently being hosted on the old web server. My plan is to make the cluster into a pay-to-use BYOND game hosting machine the likes of which no one has ever seen.

Every VPS host used for BYOND uses shell scripting and is a pain in the ass, especially to users who don't know anything about the shell. I'm planning to create a BYOND "game", to be hosted on the cluster head, that people can login to and "play". And by play I mean upload host files and use credits to submit cluster jobs i.e. host their games. point-and-click, easy to use, and lower cost than any other host anywhere.

Sounds great, right? unfortunately, it's going to take me a lot of time to get it working right, probably several weeks, and I may not be able to have it fully operational until after I move. To help reduce cooling costs and electricity, all of the cluster nodes will be "rack-mounted", probably in an old piece of furniture once I find one that's suitable. This isn't something I can setup until after I move, though I will begin testing immediately after I get back.
