Know what's BULLLLLLLSHIT?

Percentages.

The system has countless flaws and doesn't even achieve what it was made to do.

You don't need to declare hostility to plot someone's downfall. In fact it's an art to work your way around that and help people kill you.

A notable example is with White Wizards; they can cure someone who declared hostility to you, this basically means if you kill them to stop them curing the guy beating your ass, you get punished. It's even worse if they manipulated the system to get say, +90% because if you kill them you can say goodbye to that wizard staff, you better just accept they can do whatever.

But also, you do not gain percentages UNTIL you kill someone. Technically if you're an evil mastermind you can pk anyone an infinite amount of times so long as you're smart enough to leave them as soon as they get low hp, this is particularly easy for red wizards ( Poison, sleep, scan, when they're at 1 hp a new banian imp can do the finishing blow and you take no credit for that kill ) this basically means that someone genuinely being a dick can get away with it, even go as far as to do it multiple times to the same poor bastard.

The idea of the percentages stopping spam killing actually doesn't work at all; all it really does is work against the smaller parties as they must kill more people to win in pvp. This naturally means they'll need to kill White Wizards who are simply curing/buffing and will probably end up losing all their engraves if they even think of killing the people they're fighting, leading to a situation where you lose no matter what you do unless you're lucky enough to run away.

But it gets even better for the bigger groups; they can share the % amongst themselves so the more people you have the more you can split the % and work around it; small groups certainly won't have the same luxury and will invariably gain -% faster as they couldn't get rid of it as quickly.

Lets say you actually deserved your -100%. Lets say you honestly started trouble with weaker people than you for no reason. There is no guarenteed punishment, it's only if you die, so technically the only REAL punishment is if you aren't strong enough to win against everyone that comes at you. If you were strong enough, then you won't have any ill side effects. It's kind of a messed up "Might Makes Right" sort of issue. And again if they get away they can just split the percentage amongst their friends, so they'll be counting the loot they stole from that guy they pked 20 times without any trouble.

Technically this already has been the case for ages with the cube where if you were skilled enough you could get away with it, while the idea is charming at first, its actually pretty unfair in practice.

Then there's the holes in the system...Someone with +%, adds -% to the person that pks them. It's very easy for someone to let a team member kill them many many times to the point that if anyone messes with them, even if that was the first pk of the day by said attacker, they will probably get near or well over -100% and lose their gear the next time they die. It's possible for that to even be the intention, with a pk group right nearby to collect all their drops, drops the person probably earned over months but will never see again for that error.

It doesn't even make sense because in theory someone could have -92% and another +92%, the -92% person did all the killing but the next person to kill the +92% person loses their gear when they die.

I could go on, but basically, I think that the system is filled with more holes than swiss cheese and that it'd be much better if it simply wasn't here.

But yeah discuss.

The idea of dropping your engraved stuff is silly to begin with.

But then again, some folks might need that sort of wake-up call to make them stop being dickholes.

Gonna agree with Nerserus here. The system has a good intention but it's really sloppily designed and executed. Doesn't actually do much but screw with people pvping outside of siege.

Me and Vin fought a bunch of capped players who were on the same level as us. At one point it was 3 of us against 4 of them, but I ended up with -160% because we were winning the fights. We didn't spam kill or spawn camp anyone, we just were winning the fight.

That's really gay.

I would understand if it were a system that triggered if you killed a person more than say twice in an hour or so.

But that's just silly.

Yeap. On the flip side of the coin during siege I'd get to go spam kill the uncc'd players forced off of NB all I want.
