Isn't it a bit silly how its not at a peak time? It's kinda unfair if someone loses a domain because they have school/work tommorow, can't it happen earlier when there's more players to defend and attack? Maybe a few hours before its current time; that way people wouldn't have to go out of their way just to be logged on at siege mode, it's a convienience thing.

It is during peak hours. It's just not good timing for everyone. I work nights and it kinda sucks for me cause it starts right as I leave for work.
As for losing domains because of irl, well...we just deal with it I guess. Adjusting siege times to suit you or me better isn't really...balance imo. A lot of the people on work/go to school during the day so they're just getting off. If you change the timers to be earlier it's likely the same thing happens to them only it's a larger number of players. _________________________________________ Haze wrote:

Siege should be from 12 PM to 12 AM EST.

Make siege 12 hours long but also make armies incredibly sturdy so PCs aren't required to defend the domain.

We need a more balanced siege timer, as I stated in another thread. I work nights so does Blace. So how would that work.
As a community we need to come together as a whole and decide on something more capable for us all. So as a society let's do that. What are some suggestion. _________________________________________ |

I disagree. The reasoning for a short siege timer was so it wasn't a common occurrence for people to lose a domain simply because they had to sleep or had work or whatever. Giving a 12 hour window will bring back part of that problem. If anything, increase the timer by one or two hours and adjust the window slightly.
But tbh, I think it's fine as is. You can not please everyone with this one. _________________________________________ |

I wouldn't mind it being increased at most by an hour. I've always felt that 2 hours was way to short, but the alternative of 5 hours, which is what it was initially was too much.

That's actually a good point. I'm also with Shane in allowing siege to be longer, but definitely making army stronger to make up for as much time that is added. This changing will also make domains more secure in general so that players will use houses and such for their items and "newbie muling" won't be used anymore. _________________________________________ |

There shouldn't be mechanics that either force you to no-life the game or lose all your items/effort.
A twelve hour seige timer benefits only one group of people; the ones who no-life the game and can/will sacrifice RL things such as personal relationships/jobs in order to succeed. Nobody should be forced to tell others "Sorry, I can't go with you to the ball game, people will completely destroy all my effort on a game." Perhaps a compromise can be made, however. Enable full seige on some weekends (Twice a month, tops.) During those days, publicized in advance (MotD usage, posts on forum by Gaku explaining when these Full Seige days are), all domains are at risk of being conquered/razed. To promote people actually being within a domain, however, a person MUST be a domain member or they cannot kill a guard or destroy a building. The only time one need not be a domain member to attack a city is when the city is NPC-controlled. This will prevent people doing the current meta-game of having nothing to lose and everything to destroy. To balance it out, however, since nobody should be forced to stay up 24 hours to defend their turf, armies will be just that; armies. Not "Supplemental defense", but ACTUAL defense. No conquering a city in a twenty-minute time window. _________________________________________ |

I don't particularly like the idea of being required to be a domain member in order to harm a play run domain. That will Exclude people from participation if nobody will allow you to live in one.

Issue: One group could take all domains and thus prevent anyone from attacking or rebelling. Solution: Call that winning the game. _________________________________________ SMUG.MOMENTAI

An alternate way to solve the "Nothing to lose, everything to gain" issue of non-domain people attacking/razing domains.
Non-domain members instantly grave and can lose engraved items if killed by an army unit. Still allows the game to be continued if every city is owned by one group, but still gives encouragement for living in a domain. _________________________________________ |

I'm still completely for making newbie muling impossible so that people can still refuse to live in domains, but they can't keep reserve gear or stockpile all their champion/quest loot unless they decide to move into a domain and get a house. _________________________________________ |
