Me and a few friends recently stumbled upon the FFO Classic version that is still being hosted by Gaku, and began to play it. Fluttershy requested for it to be pwiped, and it was, and when Gaku put it back up, he put up the Prof-based version, where you don't gain XP but instead gain a bunch of Prof XP. I actually REALLY like this version, but I have some qualms about it. I am playing a Red Mage, and I have found that my Imbue is rather difficult to train, especially at first. I had an idea that may make this simpler, and it's not 'Make imbue easier to train directly, weh.'

My idea is this: When a Red Mage imbues their own weapon with an element, and then attacks with this weapon, it should train their Imbue for the appropriate element. Only when they attack, and only for their appropriately imbued-element, not just both Imbues.

Sorry,gaku put up the wrong version, the version that exists right now is limiting. Trust me I had a level 67 ninja, I could not physically advance past that. I'll have him put up the older version with experience leveling, which isn't as limiting, I asked for a pipe to fix bugged accounts not the allowance version to be put up. Sorry for any inconvenience.

I can see the pros/cons of each version. I like the prof-based system, but yes, I can see where it has it's strong limitations. But there isn't any inconvenience, me and two of my friends enjoy playing the game enough that we don't mind a couple restarts :). I personally find the beginning grind to be one of the most enjoyable portions of the game, so... however, I would like for there to be potential for work to be done on the game. What is the possibility this could happen? I'm not saying for Gaku himself to do the work, but, it would be great if something could be worked out.

well, if you want you can ask gaku about his type of coding to figure out how he coded ffo, and then based on that, if you know how to code, make the possible updates, and submit them to him for review, but other than that i see no way, gaku himself said he would rather not do any work on ffo

Well, that is unfortunate. I would need the source to be able to look at the code, and then knowledge of coding to make adjustments, and I unfortunately have neither. Guess I'll have to get to work on finding someone trustworthy that can code.

I will be doing some more Terulia testing over the coming days, but otherwise I have no interest in maintaining FFO.

I do not agree with Nocturne in that you should open source the game, but seeing as how I greatly enjoy the game, I also do not wish to see it sit and stagnate. I have no intention of adding non-FF content, I want to build upon the premise that the game has been created on. I want to expand the game, and perform what I would consider a few minor tweaks. If you don't mind I could send you a message here on the forums, or add you on byond pager and we could discuss this a bit more privately. However currently I am off to work so... bbl.
