It would be nice to be able to play FFO over the same router using different computers. Me and my brother have always wanted to play FFO together over the same router, but since FFO's multikey check boots anyone with the same IP address, we can't. With the addition of computer_id, the addition of this should be a breeze. Course, I do see some room for abuse.

Yes, no, maybe?

I can manually add multikey exemptions and that works fine.

I like the idea of adding this computer_id thing....

Oh so it would go by computer instead of IP? Might not be a bad idea, especially if people in dorms start playing or something.

The Guest keys are already tied to the computer, so yeah, this would be a lot smarter.

People with two computers would be able to mule w/o any oversight and w/o needing any permission to do so.
Resolve that issue and I'll add it.

*looks at the four different computers I just finished setting up*

You... you mean you're not putting it in then? :(

The game Dragonball Generations has mechanics in the game that punishes you for interacting with your alts. Punishing you by telling you to not interact with an alt and permanently deleting the item you muled.

Problem is, it means they can't interact with legit partners, and making permission for that puts us back to square one.

That's exactly what I said, there's no real point to doing this. Only solution I can come up with is allowing them to interact, but flagging players who take the piss out of the system so that it makes them unable to multikey.

How to prove that however is where it gets tricky. The whole idea just goes around in circles.
