Another Free Weekend this week, accompanied by a 50% off sale to celebrate TF2 being released on Macs. It uses the same servers for PCs and macs, so you can play with anyone that isn't on a console.

I really really need a computer good enough to run this again. It's one of my favorite games ever, and it just keeps getting wildly updated.

Haha, look how cute I was almost 3 years ago when I was still using a terrible laptop that barely ran the game on autoexec'd lower-than-the-lowest-settings-you-can-manually-choose-ingame graphics.

I ended up building a really nice computer and played the hell out of TF2 for quite awhile; it truly is an extremely fun and addicting game, it's just that... Well, the hat-conomy thing is bizarre and kind of keeps getting more and more ridiculous with more and more of the population of the game going around with glowing bright green hats, beards, shirts, creatures and critters attached to them every which way as they shoot you with a gun that has a glowy golden skull attached to it and christmas lights strung around it, but... Really, the core gameplay has only improved with the bevvy of interesting weapons you have to choose from for each class at this point, and how you can 'edit' your playstyle accordingly however you'd like. It's really fun.

That being said, for awhile now I've been quite tired of it. Mostly because the server I always frequented, a 'gentleman's micspam' server if you will, where players took turns one at a time playing actually decent music, kinda ended up becoming terrible. Long story short, it was on that very server I found out about this whole pony mess -- people on there were using the avatars, sprays and spamming the music from Friendship is Magic when it was a brand new thing and hardly anyone knew about it yet. I fell in love, and after a few months, sometime around mid-2011 or so, suddenly it was decided, I guess, that ponies had passed the hidden threshold of popularity at which point the internet deems it unclean, and from the very place I found out about it, people're banned for so much as having a pony spray. It's one of the most disgusting displays of internet 'gotta be cool' mentality I've ever seen.

And no other server does it for me. I try and try, but it's just not the same. Even the pony servers aren't quite my cup of tea, though admittedly I sometimes play on the pony Saxton Hale servers which are so unbelievably over-the-top and ridiculous that it's hard not to have a bit of fun. And they have really good music.
