Didn't Cea just say that the amount of saves wasn't an issue?

We had this problem before. It wasn't the save amounts, it was how the saves were loaded.

The server isn't constantly running through all thousand save files so no, there is no merit to your proposition, so good try.

Like last time, there is most likely a loop or kink that has developed in save files that will need to be found.

I will like to point out that the main reason that we are discussing a relog timer is not because of save file problems, but because no matter who or when, once someone relogs there is a BIG lag. The past few days have been just terrible in game play because of constant relogs. Relogging is the main problem here not the save files or how they are being uploaded. That was more of a side speculation in this topic.

Strange. You just said the main problem is logging in or out. When this happens, a save file is deposited or retrieved. Yet you claim it has nothing to do with save files. You claim it's about relogging. But why?

You do not state why. You state the effect, but don't even bother to speculate the cause. Thus, your post do be pointless.

Furthermore, if the problem do truly be linked to purely relogging then my original post proclaiming the amount of save files not being an issue stands true above all else. Clearly, the problem do be the relog verb itself then.

My point here being there is no point to making some sort of extermination net to put a damper on everyone's gameplay. Fix the problem causing lag, it do be possible without making the game hell for others.

Firstly, the lag bug isitn caused by relogging, its caused by there being so many files to go through when the game goes to pull your savefile...

Secondly, i fully explained the issue, what is there not to understand? you're far from retarded, and your theory on how it works isint true entirely, like i said, i "Fully explained" the way it works, and its easy to fix.

Also, relogging contributes to the lag, but it alone is not the reason, had you read my post you'd understand how it works.

and lastly, this bug is easy to fix, gaku could probally care less, if people are going to complain and make long posts, at least make sure you know what you're talking about, because its annoying to hear you post about **** you're way wrong about

Cealor failed to read or comprehend the post that explained that you don't need to relog or use the relog verb to cause the lag. Sorry.

No, I did not. If you re-read my post you'll see I only mentioned relogging as an after-thought. My original point was clarifying the save file issue and re-read Kati's post to see she mentioned relogging. So I felt that warranted an edit to cover that point.

Good try, though.

edit; also, Solus: you posted clearly explaining how you think it works. I posted saying I felt it did not work that way. Again, you say it's because there are too many save files. But I ask you this, when a file is being loaded does the game scan every single character folder and every single character file to find the right one? Or does it go "their key is cea so I'll go open the cea folder.."

Your point just illogically doesn't work. Yet you state it as a matter-of-fact.

I present another method. Please don't put down my intelligence as a means to buffer your point. It only does the opposite.

I'm clearly explaining how it works, Pretty sure gaku would say so himself.

Unlike you i'm actually going from experience with the Savefile system bro.

Unlike you i'm actually going from experiments with the Savefile system bro.

I'll remind you I've probably been running private servers longer than anyone else in this game. And I've had a population on mine as well.

To say I don't have experience with them is just ignorance on your part.

edit: not to mention completely pointless to post. The only reason to post is to have a demeaning attitude that contributes nothing to the topic. I can't even try to have a civilized talk without you people trying to put me down.

relog = save files being uploaded (when you click the title screen)

If relog time was there, we'd have less people relogging constantly. Why dont we just implement the 15 minute relog delay now? It's already in terulia, so why not test it out here on ffo and see if it fixes the issues.

EDIT: wasnt talking down to you Cea, I was just pointing out why people were suggesting this. Cuz you have been away. Sure I said it a little aloofly. But I said it cuz I had a feeling you were going to reply equally in the same tone.

The reboot today seems to have cleared up the issue. I have not seen a reboot for a while before the one today so that may have been the cause of player lag.

thats what happened last time. it got really bad and once the server got rebooted it was yay no lag. but in a week or so we're like lagging. but even in this crystal pristine paradise such as today, every time someone relogs, i feel that lag.

"Since any additional work on FFO would require re-coding about 3 month's worth of intermittent updates, I'm considering the game finished.
No additional updates will be applied to FFO, and the current version will be hosted until Terulia is ready." -Gaku

Missed that part before. This thread may as well get locked.
