Currently the game lags whenever someone logs in and logs out.
This usually lasts anywhere between 2-6 seconds each time it happens. Marcus believes this to be due to the large amount of character sav files. Quest alts, trash alts, mules, and just regular alts for playing). The trash and quest alts never get get deleted, and neither do the mules. People make these constantly. The server didn't have this problem at the beginning of the hosting so his suspicion holds some merit. I suggest either implementing an inactivity checker to delete trash characters, or using something you've already coded in for Terulia, the 15 minute wait time for relogging. This will also dissuade people from one of your pet peeves, constantly relogging to get back to town. Edit: putting this all in one place for ease of reading. The only pain in the ass thing about the 15 min re-log timer AS IS, is that not all re-logs are intentional. I'd also suggest that the game keep you logged in for up to one or two minutes if you disconnect any other way besides using the .relog verb. Some people have crappy net and sometimes the server just isn't running at optimum. Meant to suggest this part a while ago for Terulia. _________________________________________ "Take this shipment of supplies to Gillian, and try not to murder anyone's parents along the way, alright?"

Took that screenshot for fun but it looks like you're onto something here. _________________________________________ |

This was a problem on Bleach Las Noches before, it was something to do with how the saves were loaded. Even though there are well over 1000 save files, maybe even 2000, Gaku's computer is more than capable of handling it in less time than that. (Not to mention it's a Linux system and Gaku knows his stuff)
I think they fixed it by preloading it or something, I can't remember, I quit at around that time due to the GRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIND _________________________________________ Censorshit is a bitch.

Anyways, regardless of what Aeris or w/e says, since i dont care about it, no offence or anything but its irrelivent to topic.
FFO had this problem last hosting due to spam of trash alts, not only that, but i'm a guide, and was last version, and i've noticed lag caused from having too many save files. I'll be a little more honest here though, I entirely pinpointed this error when Quinto threw up his Private Server, his internet was pretty ****thank you for hosting, and when it was a little bit of people, persay 4 people, there was no lag or even DCing, but when the numbers increased, there was more than half a minute wait periods when people click the start menu thingie at the Log in Screen when the game goes to pull your save files, this became more noticable with people with either More savefiles on that particular key, or a rediculously large Save file, "Oondivinezin". But anyways, I'm entirely Certain this problem resolves around there being too many savefiles, and maybe the savefiles should be deleted from the Backup folder, and the normal savefile folder and moved to an Inactivity Folder under that keys name like it is for backup when the whole key has been inactive for about a whole month, and when that key is logged in they are prompted "Unfreeze Account?", if no is chosen, they are disconnected, but if yes is chosen, their save its returned to the keynamefolder under the backup directory as usual. It'll pretty much treat them like they've been ppwiped. No harm done, and no major lag when ever people log in geez. Edit: I know this might not be fixable for FFO, but can we input this system for Terulia? at the very least... Edit: Seisul managed to abuse this whole bug during Domain warfare, or at least thats what i was told, a friend of mines has a screen shot proving it, but either way, This bug can and has been abused, and can be abused without even logging into FFO, I'm pretty sure some people do it to lag FFO now just to be ****s, and i've tested my theory and i know how to make FFO lag non stop myself, this just needs to be fixed. _________________________________________ sub0flame (12:58:03 AM): do you love me gaku?

Unless we get a very large player base in Terulia, shouldn't it be fine since players are limited to one character and there is a relog cooldown timer?
1 char per person, 15 mins to log back in etc... _________________________________________ "Take this shipment of supplies to Gillian, and try not to murder anyone's parents along the way, alright?"

Unless characters age and get wiped after a certain age like in Dragonball Generations, there's not much that can be done about this issue.

About the Seisul thing he did abuse it. (not the one who took the screen shot so nice to know that other people noted this cuz I spent half the night *****ing to Dean about this) What happened was whenever it seemed we were winning or started to REALLY trash Shyron's army, Seisul for no reason would relog and rejoin. Every time this happened, our team would lag. This wasnt the lag where everything freezes for a few seconds, it was the lag where just your character lagged and the army or monster mobs were unaffected. The **** move he was playing eventually caused us so many deaths that we lost. If I remember right, a big chunk of us died on the last leg cuz Seisul relog'd.

Actually, I'm almost positive that he was relogging due to me casting Lamp on him repeatedly, eliminating the sneakiness of his little conceal rapid strike tactic. _________________________________________ Huckey168 (ffo): Your a idiot beyong all imagining. |

Also a ***** move. Maybe that's another thing that should be changed, especially for Terulia. You're lamped til the duration wears off or the effect is dispelled, period.

If you have to wait 15 minutes to log back in then I'm pretty sure making lamps or torches continue to stay in effect is rendered pointless.

All I know is that everytime he logged we had serious issues. also if we do get a 15 min timer, then why should we have a lamp on or still be poison. we should probably start out fresh. this is assuming that we will be spawning back in town and not where we left off at like the plans in terulia. _________________________________________ |

Both last longer than 15 mins currently, but starting fresh sounds fine.

Poisoned status and your health and mana are all saved at logoff, I see no reason why buff and debuff timers shouldnt stay intact.

Here's why.
"Okay guys, ready?" For the retarded: People could log in covered in buffs to launch a surprise attack on a town, group, or domain. _________________________________________ Censorshit is a bitch.

Here's why."Okay guys, ready?" Except this already can happen. It's called buffing before you attack the town. This makes no sense. In fact, that would be LESS effective, and would only work if you just happened to live in the domain you want to take over. Even then, you'd have to time it perfectly with a stop watch (let's not even get started on how lag affects relog timer) so that you don't waste a second of any of the buffs. haha _________________________________________ Huckey168 (ffo): Your a idiot beyong all imagining. |

I just wanted to toss in something:
I am one of the few FFO players on dial-up, and normally it is somewhat acceptable being on dial-up until I see too many moving mobs (inside Domains, large parties, huge-ass swarms). My .ping averages are .5-.9 seconds. It takes as much as a second, normally, for my commands to go through. Sucks, but it's bearable. For the entire span of today, and a good chunk of yesterday, my average .ping was 5 seconds. It was a rare few moments for a large portion of the day my ping dropped below a second. _________________________________________ SMUG.MOMENTAI

Everyone is lagging or has been the last few days. I even took my domain off attack all cuz of these issues. I have almost died several times cuz of the lag. Without a doubt in my mind a lot of the big spikes are from whole parties relogging.

We had this problem before. It wasn't the save amounts, it was how the saves were loaded.
The server isn't constantly running through all thousand save files so no, there is no merit to your proposition, so good try. Like last time, there is most likely a loop or kink that has developed in save files that will need to be found. _________________________________________ A good player knows how to play his class. So with the 200 players(playing and not)at even 5 alts a player...thats 1000 saved files. So in reality this game is only built for the tiny player base we have? What if you had 1000 players?
