Sweet sounds like Terulia will be great then. No newbies, emphasis on pvp. Yeah, Terulia's gonna have a looooot of players!

I hope you mean there won't be newbie status and whatnot.

Because I'm referring to players new to the game, and I swear if there are none of those I'm sending Timothy Olyphant after Gaku, whether it's his fault or not.

And that lack of recognition will lend to his purpose as a COVERT killer.

I am a little curious as to what the difference will be between someone who has played for a while and a new player. If there isn't going to be any 'step above the rest' gear, then it seems...I dunno. I can't think of the word, though I bet plenty will put one in my mouth, but it seems off.

Other than the knowledge of where to go and when, what to wear for which class and how to get all your characters abilities?

I'd have to say pre-formed relations with players, making getting good gear for your class easier as well as finding a training party. Especially one you trust and know is skilled.

I think Dean worded it badly.

Gear will have a progression, but having X armor and X weapon will make a significant but not game-winning advantage over someone else with Y armor and Y weapon, skill and proficiency levels/spread will be the major deciding factors for victories in Terulia, balancing is being centered around that.

On top of that, there is going to be a more of a 'horizontal' progression for weapons. While some weapons will clearly be better than others, things will be more equal. This is not because higher tier weapons will be nerfed or made barely stronger than lower tier, but more because there are going to be less tiers and more variety.

A Rapier, a Scimitar, and a Gladius will all be equally useful in different ways, for example.
