Reduce Army Scaling

As I said, armies are just generally too powerful for being a group of NPCs. Tactics and creative strategy should come into play when players are on to defend domains, not when theres just an NPC army there.

My solution is simple and would put the army back at how it used to be, while making it cheap enough that its worth hiring. Consider that the only group that has capably beaten the current system (when the defending domain was constructed properly) was the group last hosting that had around 20 people in it, all highly-skilled, capped, best equipment in the game, etc.

Also under the current system, some domains can be defended just as well without building walls as with. Under the old system, walls were much more useful.

Finally, the army should be nerfed simply to make the game more interesting. Thus the "good" players all being on one side wouldn't mean the end of domain contention for the rest of the hosting.

Gaku's the one that wanted domains to not be taken by just whatever group of people are upset. He even has that siege idea that I believe he's still going to implement someday which makes attacking and trying to take over domains take hours and hours of warring until it's successful.

Nerfing would be good if the domains were impossible or took extreme resources and manpower to take. The fact is they only take so little and a little bit of simple thinking shows that. If you guys can't figure it out then you don't deserve the domains. :/

Cool flame bro.

Then again, you weren't there, were you?

Zekion showed up at the very end as well so I can rightly say he doesn't know what was going on other than an attack on Sank. He showed up at the "Oh fuck we need lifes for everyone" part of the battle.

Prior to that there was tactful trolling of the army from one side of town to the other.

Chipping away of walls.

Buffing and healing of certain players while they attempted to attack the town while others tried to draw fire and increase the life span of the attackers so they could get off more than two spells before going *splat*.

Also, stop sounding like such an elitist. The way you make it sound, how are newbies who've never participated in domain warfare going to feel when they attempt to attack a domain and get slaughtered in 5 seconds?

Do you know WHY no one is playing right now?
*Cough* Nabutso and friends slaughtering everyone *Cough*
*Cough* Nabutso and Cea's monopoly on the domains *Cough*
*Cough* They're never even on to defend their domains *Cough*

I think it's more that they attack far too fast, and far too furious. They have the same issue as 3.5 berserk, being able to choose a target and launch a powerful attack the very instant their cooldown wears off.

I think armies would be much more manageable if they had longer cooldowns on them, to balance out the advantage given by the AI doing all the targeting.

or if we just made them killable the normal way as many people posted before.

then a mage's hp would actually matter. HMM

From the look of Dean's scans it doesn't look like the army units have changed at all even though the level cap went down 5 levels from last hosting.

@Nab: I think I suggested a sort of death sickness for the army before, but I think "Kill them, they stay dead" would be a lot smarter from all perspectives.

Isn't this how you and your friends said to beat the army last hosting after it was buffed and how you guys said you (well maybe not you in particular) did it?

I still agree they should be lowered or fixed somehow, but I just wanted to point that our for the irony.

Also, topic is pointless because unless this affects Terulia, Gaku won't change it. I asked him and brought up this specific topic and I said "since its about FFO you're not going to change it right?" and he said yeah...

As far as if this does go for Terulia, I'd like to wait and see what the whole warfare system in Terulia will be like before making army suggestions.
