If the domain lord is online and the pre-reqs for a revolution are met, will the domain lord be notified?

I don't think the town would really revolt because the lord makes happiness go up.

The happiness/morale refresh is every 6 hours (in-game), so it is unlikely that a particular domain lord will be online and watching at the exact moment a revolution occurs. However, when morale is < 30, one of two things will happen: Either everyone will receive an announcement of unrest in the domain or a revolution will take place.

There are 3 major causes of unhappiness:
- NPC civilians killed
- lord has another domain set as home
- lord hasn't visited domain in a while

Taxes are rarely high enough to impact happiness significantly.

Morale takes a while to change, so unless a lord is completely oblivious to his domain's stats, there will be plenty of warning before a revolution takes place.
