I'm hoping this isn't a 'feature' that you don't get outlawed when no guards are around. Even if it were RP, the guy you talk to when you get on the boat should still be able to shout "Guards! Kill Black!" or something. But there weren't any messages saying Black was outlawed. IF it's because he's a guide, that's a stupid reason. If that is the case, then Black's abusing it, because I did nothing to him. I went to New Banian, killed. Tried again, killed. He would've kept killing me if I respawned sooner and there wasn't a spam kill rule, I'm certain of that. But I'm hoping it's a bug, which is why it's in this forum. PLEASE move it to an appropriate forum if it's a 'feature' that Black gets to kill me whenever he wants without getting outlawed.

Its because as long as there's no guard on his screen, he doesn't get outlawed. It has nothing to do with guide, and its not abuse. Its taking advantage of the system, but that's about it.

In light of this, I honestly don't understand why the outlaw system works like that. Realism is cool and all, but after a certain point it just causes more grief than fun. I suggest we just put it back to how it used to be: you attack someone, you get outlawed. Or make it so that as long as one of them is on the same screen as a guard/NPC, the aggressor gets outlawed, although in my opinion that's still abusable.

Ever since this was changed, there's just been countless situations where some player who understood how it worked took advantage of it in their favor. I think making the aggressor get outlawed, no matter what other PCs or NPCS are on their screen, would both be a lot easier for most players to understand, and a lot less griefer-friendly.

Dock guards don't intervene unless you hit them or the boat. Their duty is to protect the ship, not you.

Most pks are in this situation, if your in a town stay in the view of guards. Dont expect the aggressor not to follow you to NB since Nb is the first choice on the screen and free that is the place most people choose to run to. And always keep moving (unless you get to a town with guards). But remember a simple barrier can add enough protection for someone killing you right in front of the guards if they escape.

I take full responsibility for the current system, I actually suggested it to encourage PvP but once again, you belligerent ASSHOLES spend more time ruining other people's fun than playing the game. But with the Flag system in the upcoming Terulia, this'll be fixed, and I doubt Gaku plans to incorporate it into FFO any time soon.

3 things:

1) Was Black visible to the Port NPC? If not, then no he wasn't outlawed. Hitting dock guards or the boat is the only way to get outlawed in the NPZ.

2) As for the system, it works just fine. Makes hiding in town from PVP easier to deal with (especially in situations I come across 90% of the time, where some capped guy will kill one of my low level friends then run and hide cause they know I'm coming to kill them and they can't actually fight someone of equal power). Any form of self-defense in argo will keep you alive long enough for your aggressor to get outlawed and either die to kill you if they can fast enough, or have to break off and run. What I'm saying is..."fight back". Or hell, just move to where he has to be witnessed.

3) Any retorts will be met with inquiries about what the rest of your party was doing. Followed by announcing that I don't ever party with people not prepared to help me if I get attacked.
