I know it's been a while since this was changed but I'm curious as to why the selected target of filch/steal must be hostile to you.

With status spells, they must either be hostile to you if they have newbie status, or simply not have newbie status.

I feel filch/steal should be treated the same way.

+1 to thief/ninja usefulness.

Maybe you should read Dean's post, his says that you can't use ailments on non-hostile newbies, and believes that you should be able to steal from anyone at any time, newbies exempt.

I said you can currently use status spells on non-hostile non-newbies.

I think filch/steal should be treated this way.

As is now, you can only use filch/steal on hostiles regardless of newbie status.

You can however cast status spells on non-newbies even if they are not hostile toward you.

Not true, you can filch/steal from non newbies who aren't hostile to you. If that was changed sometime this hosting that's really fucked up.

That is, if you aren't a newbie.

YOU must hostile THEM in order to filch. You must manually hostile before filching. It would be nicer if the action of filching just created the hostility automatically, just like any other way in which you'd attack or cast on someone.

It has always auto hostiled someone I've tried to filch.
