Conceal, should it be exposed by guards?

Invisibility is handy, but when you can't sneak into town while invisible, it eliminates a genuine use of it.

I think that Conceal and other abilities that induce invisibility shouldn't be picked up by guards if the prof level is high enough, with higher profs fooling higher level guards.

In a world where guards are the only thing keeping newbies safe, let's give people the ability to come in town and gank them even after they've been outlawed. :D

I'm surprised Nab, it took you a full 24 hours to give a one-word answer and another 25 minutes to clarify it. You must be getting rusty, take a day off.

I think you misunderstood Zek.

He's talking about players being able to walk around in town while concealed and not be seen by the guards.

I think Conceal and Vanish should be able to let you sneak past guards. It used to be that way before and it was nice to have an ability that supported sneaking around. If it's really a big problem later make Conceal reveal the caster if they decide to attack with it. I'd rather have it made for sneaking around than ambushing people, since that really doesn't need any help.

I think Conceal is fine the way it is in the hosted version. Spells and skills that give the "Invisible" status in Terulia however should be thought about.

Not keen on it dispelling after a single attack, all that does is let you escape or get a breather while you heal some HP. An icon state that's partially transparent appearing while you attack or cast a spell though, that could work, couldn't it?

How bout a combination of all of this?

-Guards [and monsters] can't detect you regardless of prof.
-Wears off if you use a skill or attack.
-A higher prof = more actions you can do while concealed. Perhaps something like an extra hit every 16 levels.. Starting with 1 hit when you get it, 2 hits at 16, 3 at 32, 4 at 48, etc.

One problem with that, Exophus.
*Conceal* *Cure* *Fog* *Ether*

If you cure yourself conceal wears off.

Anything really will knock you out of conceal if you target yourself because if you click yourself while concealed then it wears off.

Use invisible spell. Take any action. Become visible for a few seconds. Fade back into invisibility if the spell hasn't hasn't worn off. Win.

Jeff why would you make a suggestion that overpowers the spell when we're trying to make it fair yet useful for sneaking around? Please don't try to help when you can't understand the bare basics concerning stats themselves such as defense.

Ok so heres my thought on this. Conceal has a time limit. duh. It should also have a cap for how many actions can be taken while concealed until it runs out. Any time you are casted on directly whether by yourself or someone else by means of using a tier 2 it automatically wears off.

That way it can still be used to sneak around and if you need to smack someone with a spell or physically you can but not as many times as you want. And obviously if you dont use all your actions that you could have what will make your conceal go away is the time running out or someone hitting you.

Profing it would increase duration of the spell and how many actions can be taken, and eventually let you sneak past some NPC's. I think this would make it fair and not OP.

CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is great BTW. im sure you all have other decent ideas to add/take from this.

EDIT: this is just to clarify: "Any time you are casted on directly whether by yourself or someone else by means of using a tier 2 it automatically wears off." Someone else casting a tier 2 on you would reveal you. Obviously tier ones wouldnt be pheasible for someone else since it only hits the turf. But you can still tier 1 yourself and that would also reveal you. Thats what I meant by this but didnt explain properly. :)

I honestly don't know of a single reason to make Conceal allow you to attack without revealing yourself. Any invisibility spell should be nullified when an action is taken. It should be sort of like.. a chant, that once concentration is broken, the spell is terminated. Letting people attack while being Concealed only leads to it being overpowered.

Not to mention, if you couple that with the idea of wanting NPCs unable to detect you? That is just asking for brokenness. Imagine breaking into a heavily guarded domain, Concealed. You can just simply attack while concealed until it knocks you out of it, and conceal again.

While it would be very nice to have of these applied to Conceal, their are just so many situations to consider balancing against, do you honestly think it's worth the time bothering to balance something that would be 99% broken if NPCs couldn't see you and you were able to act a few times with it?

Well I would think that resistance would build up and spamming yourself with conceal would be ineffective.
