Last-equipped item botching magic power? | |||||

It'd be great if other people could test this, but both I and another red wizard have been able to verify that some sort of bug regarding equipment is making our magic, or at least our Cure spells, take major swings in power. As a reminder for Gaku, I was p-pwiped after first bringing this up so it's not something that this would fix.
My character is in a mix of crappy heavy and mage armor, with one viking piece. If I take off and then put back on my Mediocre Conjurer Gloves of the Wanderer, my Cure appears to heal myself for an average of 110 health per cast. Without changing anything else, if I then take off and then re-equip my Fine Wooden Helmet, my Cure then heals for an average of 210 health per cast. It can't be a bug solely related to one of those two items, as I asked another red wizard to perform the same test. After taking off and re-equipping a bronze bracer, she healed herself for an average of 260 health per cast. However, when she took off and re-equipped a poor wizard hat she was holding, her Cure dropped down to 150. Taking off and rewearing the bracer raises her cure back to 260 again. _________________________________________ |

whats happening is mage gear severely reduces magic damage, and cure no longer bypasses this, heavy however does not affect the power of your magic, but it does increase the fizzle rate
i can barely cure reap for 150 when he is wearing his aw stuff, and when im in my crimson etc i cure for around 300, but on knights/masters/ninjas i hit 500 easily the magid defence of mage gear is insanely high, which is what is happening in this situation _________________________________________ Letha says: Mint is more of a man than me. |

reply to Po:
I think you misunderstood (as I did when he first explained it to me). It seems that the same equipment set is giving different resistances based only on which item was equipped last. However, I still need more info on how this works. _________________________________________ ScouSin: Damn you Gaku! Sorry. It doesn't appear to be magic power that's affected, but rather magic defense. Casting Ice on myself produces the same effect as the Cure tests.
This bug also seems to be tied to the last piece of armor you unequip, rather than put on. Swapping around a magic staff only adjusts the numbers similar to what I'm already used to when staff casting compared to bare, so the bug doesn't appear to be related to weaponry at all. While it could be confirmation bias on my part, my fizzle rate on spells appears to go up tremendously if the last item I take off is my heavy helmet. If it's a mage piece I last removed, my magic resistance appears to go through the roof as well as my fizzle rate nearly disappearing. _________________________________________ |

It would be more accurate to test with someone casting on you / you casting on someone else, rather than casting on yourself. Otherwise you have both mdef and matk coming into play and you can't separate them out.

Roped a black mage into helping me test, and I believe this confirms it's a magic defense issue.
Took off and put on my gloves, and he would Dark me for an average of 30-35 damage. Took off and put on my wooden helmet, and his Dark increased to an average of 65. He didn't touch his equipment at all during the test. _________________________________________ |

Just wanted to bump this since it is a bug that needs to be fixed.
In addition to modifying magic resistance, the last modified item slot* has complete control over a user's fizzle rate; that is to say, a mage can still walk around in near-full heavy if they just prompt a mage piece as their last slot. * It is not specifically the last equipped. Unequipping an item will also fix the item, as well as Upgrading it, Repairing, or taking a degrade. _________________________________________ SMUG.MOMENTAI
