Im really interested in creating my own icons, and I have the following questions.
1. is this old information still accurate, and
2. there are some dead links to templates for male and female characters, can anyone provide an active link to some templates so I will know if I am doing things right such as states and proportions? especially the differences between battle states and overworld?

Those are no longer accurate.

For the most part they are good however you only should have umm, I believe, south and west states for battle now.

Questions about states:
1. In my overworld pixle movie, does it matter where in the frame my 16x16 image is? I have it in the upper left quadrant, but does it need to be perfectly centered between the 4 quadrants?

2. In battle mode, does it matter where my hands are placed? It seemed to be very important in the past versions looking at the old Consortium forums I have read, but the newer Iconning posts dont mention it.

3. Is there a "standing state"? or is the default standing image the first image of North, South, East, West facing in my pixle movie?

4. What are the current required states? The optional ones seem to be listed.

1. The lower left and if it goes out of it it will be cut off in game.

2. I would just do the 8th pixel to be safe, not sure if they removed that ruling.

3. In the state labeled battle that's standing and if you wanna do anything extra like the bubbles on the icon i sent you you put it there then the north is moving

Pretty sure I'm right on 1 and 2 just been awhile.
