Return of Custom Icons

As the only remaining Icon Checker, I have decided that Custom Icons will return to FFO.

The format will stay the same, of course. Here's an example.

There will be strict rules about who gets a custom icon, aswell as what kind of icon get's accepted.

I don't think Icon Checkers can decide this without asking the community and admins first. The Game is lagging pretty bad without custom icons alredy, i think it's unnecesary.

Icons have almost nothing to do with lag. Infact, the current recolors cause as much lag as fully custom icons.

Admins have nothing to do with icons, and neither does the community. It's up to the icon checkers, as stated by Gaku.

Awww, I was actually really enjoying the simpler format we have going now. It allows for individuality but is easy and keeps anyone form looking anything remotely 'unfit' for the game since it's all the base icons, and you don't have to worry about spending hours making something really crazy stunning and memorable but rather just can focus on making something neat and unique out of the tools you have available to you and stuff. I dunno.

But whatever you think's good.

I would be okay with custom icons or recolors. Both are kinda neat. They are not necessary but its not like they lag the game down thaaaat much..

The new rules I have in place stop any icon that's unfit from being added, aswell as stopping people from making those 'crazy stunning and memorable' (aka ****thank you) animations.

As you can see, the icons in the 'Acceptable" column are totally simple and fit the game, aswell as aren't too overbearing.

edit: Recolors would stay, and full custom icons will be very rare. If you have a party full of custom icon'd players, it would mean you're the very tip top pinnacle of FFO greatness.

I like customs.. I really like recoloring too, I may just keep myself recolored though, just cause it's much simple. I liked the idea of custom icons as well just so it gives players more individuality if they decided they wanted to have one.

I really like it. Listen back in the day custom icons were RARE. And they looked GOOD. It was cool because when NOT every tom, ****, and harry have a custom it really sets those with it apart. And allowing the recolor icons to stay in is sweet because you can still customize without having a custom icon.

To be honest some of the customs I've seen put in the past year were embarrassing and Galano would be rolling over in his grave (he's not actually dead yet).

You're aware that you have michelle in both the acceptable and unacceptable icon columns right?

Also, So what the **** is this, its up to your own personal taste now which icons get accept and which ones don't? Seems like a whole lot of Bias to me.

That's why we create strict guidelines but have multiple icon checkers...

I would Also like to pint out, Mr. "I'm the only remaining Icon checker" That custom icons do in fact cause spurts of resource lag. Check ya facts bro.

I think he's looking to make sure they aren't stupid complex (like Emma's flower picking thing) or non fantasy themed (Iwamori's smoking thing) or just plan BAD (a lot of those up there).

It surely can't just be left to one man's opinion that's for sure. I think guidelines would have to be laid out like before. If you go look at old forum you'll see we had a list of rules for icons. That idea kinda went kapoot the last couple years though...
