make it so armlock prevents casting magic and abilities, kinda of a status effect.

I'd say armlock should be able to prevent things like pot chugging because you need your hands to drink. Armlock means holding their arms, duh.

reply to JeebsLuvsPie: definitely believe it should stop spells as wells. I mean after all it would be hard to cast a spell when your arms are locked up. Only thing I think you shoud maybe be able to do is melee attack the person using unarmed.

Armlock's always been really tricky to balance. I always thought it should prevent item use, and MAYBE skill use at higher profs, but nothing more really. It just shouldn't be made into a potentially infinite super mute.

It's pretty damn powerful as-is if it hasn't been drastically changed from the last time I played a lot, though disabling items seems very reasonable

Shouldn't this go to Grab, which is less useful over all, than Armlock, which also does damage?

also, grab is a starter skill, armlock is almost the last skill you get, so i think armlock* needs something else.

They are both kind of meh. Grab iskinda like a learning step to an armlock so I could see it left as is though its prettty much gone after you get armlock. With armlock you get the damage, but what good is it when aknight can just rapid strike you down or mages can just use astatus spell orbear item to get you off? I kind of do agree with pcp in the matter of it being an extremely hard skill to balance properly

What about making armlock a sort of "debuff" where you hit the target with armlock, for X amount of time (based on skill and whatever other checks are made) the person that is the target A: takes damage over time, B: follows you as you move around, and C, can only do a limited number of things, maybe allow items or single hand attacks, but no casting and no 2h weapons or skills....that way its no worse then the application of a status with a follow up damage spell
