I recently had a breakthrough in programming the "new" forums, forums which use BYOND-based authentication instead of the current forum-only user name/password, and the existing forum data will be ported over to the new system some time in the coming weeks.

If your forum user name is different from your BYOND key, I will have to "import" your old data for you.

Yes, this does mean that forum users will have to, at minimum, register a BYOND account.

This change is necessary in order to allow for more efficient cross-server communications in the planned split-server system.

Some added perks:

1) game:forum linkage will be handled automatically
2) the forum will be able to coordinate cross-server communications (e.g. nsay, dsay, announcements)
3) will allow for a cross-server 'tell' system (which, as a forum-based system, will help raise ad revenue)
4) will allow for increased game:forum integration, e.g. character icons and info in user info pages

Existing features are being ported over 1 by 1, so it's still got a long ways to go before it's ready.

Update: I'm currently working to port all of the existing information over to the new MySQL databases. This will likely take another week or two.
